CONSULTATIONS

How do I set up an initial consultation?

Call us at (617) 720-3600 to set up a consultation with one of our lawyers. You can also request a consultation by filling out our contact page and one of our team members will call you to set up an appointment.

Why should I schedule a consultation?

Every case is unique. In order to properly assess your case and analyze all of the options available to you, we need to speak with you and hear your story.

What should I bring with me to the consultation?

If you are coming in for an immigration consultation, please bring any documents that you have received from the immigration authorities, such as notices or letters. If you are pursuing a workers’ compensation or employment claim, our team of experienced lawyers will provide you with a list of documents after your first appointment. For all consultations, bring with you copies of previous applications, birth certificates and passports.

How much does a consultation cost?

We charge $300 for consultations with our immigration and family law attorneys. There is not a fee for workers’ compensation consultations.

How will I be kept informed about my case?

We understand the importance of communication and transparency between attorney and client. We pledge to keep you informed when anything important happens in your case and respond to your questions in a reasonable time. When we receive updates from court, we will mail a letter to your home explaining what is happening and next steps. In addition, we will call you to inform you whenever you have court or need to come in to speak with our team.

What do I do if I have a question that I need answered?

We know that you have questions, and our goal is to ensure that you understand what is happening in your case. You can call our office and speak with one of our legal assistants at any time during business hours or leave a message for a call back outside of business hours. If our experienced legal assistants cannot answer your question, we will arrange to have an attorney call you back as soon as possible. Please be aware that our lawyers are not always in the office to answer your questions immediately due to court and detention visits.

Do I really need a lawyer to do my immigration process?

We urge you to hire an attorney to represent you. The immigration process can be complicated and missed court days, deadlines, and mistakes can all affect your case and prolong it. Please note, a “notario” is not licensed in the United States to practice law. We have seen many cases where notarios cause serious problems for client’s cases. We hope you decide to trust Barrales Law with your case, but most importantly, we urge you to hire a licensed attorney who has the skills and experience to advocate for you.
